This policy explains how KUBIK, a Windows Sudoku cube game published by Ross Ylitalo, handles information. It also covers this privacy-policy website.
Information saved on your computer
KUBIK saves local player names, preferences, puzzle progress, and personal and device high scores on your computer. These local player profiles are not Microsoft accounts. Puzzle progress is not uploaded as a cloud save by KUBIK.
Optional global leaderboard
Publishing scores is optional and is off by default for new players. You can view the global leaderboard without publishing your own scores. When you enable sharing for a player, KUBIK can upload existing eligible personal bests and future eligible zero-error results.
- Public leaderboard entries show your chosen display name, difficulty, and completion time. Choose a nickname rather than a real name or other identifying information.
- Uploads include result and local-player identifiers, difficulty, completion time, and an error count of zero. The service also records receipt timestamps and technical result metadata.
- A randomly generated installation credential authenticates uploads. A derived identifier is stored by the service to associate results with that installation. This is not your Microsoft account or proof of purchase.
- For abuse prevention, the service uses a short-lived, time-bucketed hash derived from the request IP address. The leaderboard application does not write the raw IP address to its database tables.
Turn sharing off using the named-player sharing control in Hi-Scores to stop new uploads for that player. An upload already in progress may complete. Turning sharing off, deleting a local profile, or uninstalling the game does not automatically delete previously uploaded results.
Microsoft Store purchases
Microsoft handles checkout, payment details, and Microsoft-account authentication for AdvancedLevels. KUBIK queries Microsoft Store for product pricing and license status to provide purchased access and restore ownership. KUBIK does not ask you to provide your Microsoft password or payment-card details to Ross Ylitalo. Microsoft processes Store information under its own Privacy Statement.
Hosting and service providers
The leaderboard uses Cloudflare Workers and D1, and this website is intended for Cloudflare hosting. Requests to these services expose network information, including IP addresses and request metadata, to Cloudflare for delivery, security, and service operations. Cloudflare may process operational logs under its own practices. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Data may be processed outside your country.
This page contains no advertising scripts, analytics scripts, embedded media, or application cookies. Following external links takes you to services governed by their own policies.
Use, sharing, and retention
Leaderboard information is used to publish rankings, associate submissions with participating profiles, prevent duplicate submissions, and protect the service from abuse. Public entries can be seen and copied by other people. Ross Ylitalo does not sell leaderboard data or use it for targeted advertising.
Local saves remain until removed from the device. Online leaderboard profiles and results are retained while needed to operate the leaderboard, unless removed following a request or moderation. There is no automatic score-expiration period currently configured. Temporary rate-limit records are cleaned up as requests arrive. Service providers may retain operational information under their own policies.
Your choices and requests
For questions, or to request access, correction, or removal of your leaderboard information, email ross.ylitalo@gmail.com. Include the display name, difficulty, and approximate time or date of the result so it can be located. We may ask for additional information to establish which records belong to you. Do not send passwords, installation credentials, or payment details. There is no in-game online deletion button at present.
If you contact support, your email address and the information you choose to send are used to respond and resolve your request. Please avoid including unnecessary personal information. If a child has shared identifying information through the leaderboard, a parent or guardian can contact the same address to request removal.
Changes and contact
